METHOD FOR PRODUCING RECONSTITUTED TOBACCO Russian patent published in 2009 - IPC A24B3/14 

FIELD: tobacco industry.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to the technology of tobacco refuse processing. The method for producing reconstituted tobacco consists in extracting estragon with liquid carbon dioxide and separating a respective miscella. The tobacco material is mixed up with a non-polar liquefied gas and then the material is extracted and shredded by relieving periodically the pressure in the extraction mixture below the pressure of carbon dioxide moist steam at extraction temperature. Its miscella and meal are separated. The meal is suspended in an aqueous solution of an edible acid. An edible polyatomic alcohol is introduced into the suspension. Then the suspension is formed, dried to a residual humidity of 13-15% and cut. The cut material is treated with the gas-liquid tobacco extract and previously separated CO₂ miscella by raising simultaneously the pressure. Then the pressure is relieved to atmospheric one by freezing simultaneously the soaked up carbon dioxide. The latter is thereafter sublimed to obtain a target product in the residue.

EFFECT: improved organoleptical properties of the reconstituted tobacco and shortened duration of the technological process.
