FIELD: aircraft industry.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to aircraft industry, and namely to aircraft fuel tanks and operating method thereof. Fuel tank consists of drain and filler necks, gas supply line and fuel flow line with start valves, as well as elastic expansion capacity that is located in inner part of tank inside perforated safety container and is equipped with drain neck attached to the tank wall. In axial channel of the neck under the plug there made is a cylindrical cavity with a limit flange in its lower part. Removable piston with sealing gasket is arranged in the cavity middle part. Operating method of fuel tank consists in the fact that before operating the empty fuel tank, cavity of elastic expansion capacity is pressurised with excess preservative gas pressure and tightened, and fuel tank cavity is tightened as well. At that, excess preservative pressure value is chosen based on the fact that elastic expansion capacity is in expanded state. Before tank is filled with fuel, excess preservative gas pressure is released.

EFFECT: increasing service life of aircraft fuel tank.
