FIELD: transport.

SUBSTANCE: proposed method comprises the steps that follow. First the active power pickup is fitted in the crane electric power board and connected to the load lifting mechanism drive motor supply circuit. Second the dependence of consumed active power upon lifted load weight is entered into the digital computer unit. Note that in operation, the active power consumed by load-lifting drive motor is continuously determined and compared with its magnitudes stored in aforesaid digital computer unit. If the measured magnitude exceeds preset tolerances, the load-lifting mechanism is cut off to output light or sound warning signals to crane operator.

EFFECT: accuracy of controlled parametre measurement, reliable overload protection.
