SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to space technology and can be used in systems for controlling orientation of communication satellites, equipped with flight communication equipment. The method of controlling orientation of spacecraft involves determining degrees of the antenna directional pattern of the flight communication equipment while keeping and tracing orientation of the antenna on subscribers without use of any sensors.

EFFECT: more functional capabilities and provision for operation if all orientation sensors fail, after determining gradients of the antenna directional pattern of flight communication equipment.
