FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electromachining of metallic surfaces, particularly to the method of plasma-electrolytic coating of protective coat on products made of magnesium alloys. Method includes plasma-electrolytic treatment of product in electrolytic aqueous solution, containing 12-30 g/l of sodium silicate and 5-10 g/l sodium fluoride. Treatment is implemented in bipolar mode at increasing of voltage values from 0 up to 250-300 V at a rate 0.25-0.28 V/s and current density 0.5-1.0 A/cm2 at anodic polarisation of product and constant value of voltage 25-30 V at cathodic polarisation of product during 8-20 minutes. Correlation of periods of anodic and cathodic polarisation τa/τc is equal to 1.
EFFECT: increasing of anticorrosion properties and hardness of protective coating, herewith it is simple and single-stage.
