FIELD: instrument making.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to test techniques and can be used in testing for relaxation of metal specimens under bending strain using a four-point loading method. The proposed method consists in that the specimen is placed between four loading supports and the mobile support is translated toward the fixed support, symmetry of loading being adhered to, till the final position of the supports set by rigid travel limiters. Then, the specimen is kept at the preset testing conditions and the mobile supports are translated from the fixed supports. Now, the mobile supports are translated, at preset speed, toward the fixed support and applied load is registered to produce the dependence of load upon the travel and, finally, to determine relation strain from the load at the said dependence kink. Note here that two outer supports, are mobile ones, while two inner supports are fixed.
EFFECT: higher accuracy of defining relaxation strain, expanded limiting parametres and test duration.
