FIELD: power engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to permanent storage of solid radioactive waste formed during operation of commercial reactors during operation of nuclear power plants and other nuclear productions. During permanent storage of solid radioactive waste, which includes stowage thereof at storage facilities, and insulation by filling the cavities between waste and walls of storage facilities with sandy and clay rocks, for filling cavities between fragments and details available at storage facility of solid radioactive waste, as well as between walls and bottom of storage facility there used is fluid mixture formed by mixing sandy and clay rocks with water at ratio 1 of the rock for 2-8 l of water, thus creating an additional barrier on the way of radionuclides propogation. There used is sandy and clay rock containing 15-30% (hereinafter wt %) of clay minerals and 40-60% of quartz. Cavities at storage facilities are filled with fluid sandy and clay solution starting from below (from the bottom), and it is done step by step in separate portions with exposure, after each portion has been delivered, of 5 to 30 days up to reaching maximum layer compaction.
EFFECT: when using the proposed method the sandy and clay mass having filled all the cavities between fragments of solid nuclear waste, as well as between bottom and walls of storage facilities, forms clay monolith that will keep plasticity and will not be subject to cracking under influence of temperature gradient.
