FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to nuclear industry, namely, to technology of decommissioning of uranium-graphite reactors. After transfer of a uranium-graphite reactor into a nuclear-safe state by cleaning of premises, process systems and mines from spills and scatterings of nuclear fuel to amounts which do not present a nuclear hazard, the reactor equipment is demounted, the base of the reactor and bottom metal structures are reinforced by damp-proof concrete, the cavities in the reactor space and auxiliary rooms, including pre-reactor storage premises, are filled with a filling material. Filling material is represented by fine clay-containing material. Building structures are decontaminated and the above-ground part of the building for housing the uranium-graphite reactor is disassembled. There are created multilayer engineering barriers preventing atmospheric impact on the disposal facility.

EFFECT: minimisation of radiation effect from a shutdown uranium-graphite reactor on adjacent territory, population and personnel.
