FIELD: physics; measurement.
SUBSTANCE: proposed is a method of processing seismic data, containing first and second modes of seismic energy. The second mode is generated from the first mode through partial formation of transformed waves in the boundary layer of the sea bed. The method involves cross-correlation of a path, obtained in the receiver and containing information on seismic events, corresponding to the first mode, with a path, obtained in the same receiver and containing information on seismic events, corresponding to the second mode. In data, subject to cross-correlation, seismic events are identified, corresponding to partial formation of transformed waves, and amplitude of this seismic event is normalised. From normalised cross-correlation, information can be obtained on effect of static shift, created by the above mentioned layer and/or arising from vector inaccuracy.
EFFECT: more efficient processing of seismic data.
