FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: thermocatalytic element is put into a measuring chamber and an electric current pulse is applied on it. The amount of heat , dissipated on the thermocatalytic element in a time interval τ1 to τ2, in the absence of combustible gases in the oxygen-containing medium, is determined. Further, the amount of heat Q1-2, dissipated on the thermocatalytic element in a time interval τ1 to τ2, in the presence of combustible gases in the oxygen-containing medium, is determined. τ1 is the onset time of the electric current pulse and τ2 is its end time, with establishment of a constant value of signal from the thermocatalytic element. Concentration of combustible gas in the oxygen-containing medium is then determined.

EFFECT: more accurate determination.
