FIELD: technological processes.

SUBSTANCE: invention is related to woodworking industry and may be used for measurement of longitudinal warpage (deviation from saw timber linearity). The method includes creation of rectilinear base in the form of tight string and closed dimension chain by means of measurement of complete width of board and deviation of every edge from rectilinear base in every control section. At that string is tightened along middle line of board (in ends). Width of board and deviation of its edges from string is measured strictly along single line of marking by two independent methods, for instance, width - with sliding calipers, and deviation in edges - by depth gage, basing its support shoe along board edges, rod - along marking line, and measuring tip - along string. At that sum of edge deviations and string thickness provides rated width of board, and its deviation from measured width represents total error of all three measurements in every cross section, which makes it possible to quickly estimate errors made in measurements, to detect and separate gross errors, and also to estimate range and average statistic value of accidental error in all control sections. Deviations of every edge from rectilinearity (i.e. deflection) are defined as difference of measured deviations in edges in every control section and half of average width of board.

EFFECT: complex measurement of board width and curvature of its both edges with estimation of total error of measurements both in separate control section and in average in all sections of board.
