FIELD: wood processing.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for evaluating straightness errors i.e. bending deflection of linear edges of sawn timber. The method involves making a rectilinear base and measurement of deviations from it in test points of the surface to be tested. The rectilinear base is made using plane-parallel planks, laid in parallel to a tight string and fixed on a hard base. The surface to be tested rests on calibrated supports, which can be moved along the base of the plank depending on the length of the sawn timber. Measurement of deviation of the surface to be tested from the rectilinear base is done through contact basing the socket of a depth-gauge on the plane-parallel planks, and the measuring pin of a beam on the test points of the surface to be tested. Bending deflection is calculated by subtracting the distance between support points of the surface and rectilinear base from the measured deviations.
EFFECT: invention simplifies and speeds up the procedure of measuring sawn timber.
