SUBSTANCE: invention relates to high density recording medium, for example high density optical disc, as well as recording and/display devices for it. The recording medium has a clamping area, information region, which includes a recording layer, formed next to a surface on which light is incident, and a transitional zone between the clamping area and the information region. Between the top surface of the clamping area and the top surface of the information region, a step is formed on the surface opposite the surface on which light is incident. An inclination is formed in the transitional zone.
EFFECT: prevention of damage to the optical disc or objective lens of the optical head when the objective lens collides when the disc, prevention of fatal errors during automatic operation, as well as cutting on material input in making the optical disc.
