METHOD OF LUBRICATING MATERIAL BEING ROLLED Russian patent published in 2009 - IPC B21B27/10

Abstract RU 2364454 C2

FIELD: metallurgy.

SUBSTANCE: invention is intended to provide for rolling conditions improvement combined with reduced wear of rolls and improved energy-efficiency of the finishing mill or the casting-and-rolling installation. The proposed method envisages application of a lubricant on the operational rolls surface either directly or in an indirect way (applied on the surface of support rolls and further conveyed onto that of the operational ones) prior to the blank entry into the deformation region. This results in formation of a persistent lubricant layer on the operational rolls surface which, while within the deformation region, serves as an intermediary providing for reduction of friction between the roll and the material being rolled. The lubricant is applied in a pass covering the whole of the length of the material being rolled so that to provide for continuity of the active lubrication effect during the whole material length rolling. The lubricant may be delivered into the second and the subsequent mill stands.

EFFECT: provision for stable rolling conditions.
