FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metal pressure working and is to be implemented in forging shops of metallurgic and machine-building works for fabrication of automobile wheels and similar products. The semi-finished wheel shaping is performed by way of hot forging and proceeds in two stages. The resultant semi-finished product undergoes thermal and mechanical treatment. At the preliminary stage of the semi-finished product formation the primary blank is produced of an ingot having undergone mechanical treatment by way of transitional upsetting. The upsetting is performed on a convex and a concave dies with the convex and the concave conic surfaces formed respectively on the upset blank opposed sides. Before each successive upsetting transition the blank is relocated for the concave side to rest on the die concave surface. At the final stage the wheel rim and disk part are shaped. Dimensions of the blank at upsetting transitions and of the ingot are determined by the ratios specified.
EFFECT: provision for working the whole of the semi-finished wheel metal bulk so that to produce a texture ensuring optimum wheel performance properties.
