SUBSTANCE: proposed is a base station for use in a wireless communication network, which can establish communication in accordance with a communications protocol at several carriers. The base station communicates with user stations, using a first predefined set of subcarriers. If the base station establishes that no extra subcarriers in the first predefined set are accessible, it borrows subcarrier resources, choosing the first subcarrier in the second predefined set of subcarriers, used by the first neighbouring base station, and assigns the first subcarrier in the second predefined set for communication with the first user station.
EFFECT: efficient use of spectrum resources.
