FIELD: physics; computer engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates a system and method for updating one or more files on a computer device. A client computer device receives update information, containing a subject index, which identifies specific delta-correction, together with specific versions of the installed files. After selecting those updates to be applied, the update agent at the client computer device carries out inspection so as to identify the file version to be updated that is installed on the device. The update agent selects the corresponding delta-correction and sends a request to the update service.
EFFECT: increased operating reliability of client computer devices when updating files.
