FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: shaft chamfer is machined by cutter with its apex radius making 0.2 to 1.0 mm and subjected to cold plastic deforming with the help of roller that features profile radius r=0.01…0.03d, where d is the diametre of the shaft at the chamfer area. Note here that cold deforming is carried out to depth t=0.2r±0.05 mm.
EFFECT: reduced labor input, increased fatigue strength.
