FIELD: agriculture.
SUBSTANCE: the invention is in the field of agriculture and soil science. The method comprises soil specimen compositing to be carried out for two weeks under laboratory conditions at a temperature of 18-22°C and higher. Soil specimen is composted in the reservoir, whose bottom is covered with a grid with continuous field moisture capacity maintenance. The required humidity level is achieved by means of daily wetting upon free water outflow. Nitrates accumulated in soil as a result of decay of organic matters are determined. Nitrification property is estimated by difference between initial and final nitrate content in the soil specimen.
EFFECT: increase in formation value of nitrification property determination and its simplification.
