FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a detector for measuring ionising radiation, mainly γ-radiation and X-ray radiation, containing a scintillator and a light detector. The light detector is stabilised by using a preset light source, preferably a light-emitting diode, where duration and/or shape of light pulses of the light source differ from duration and/or shape of light pulses, emitted by the scintillator. Pulses induced by the light source and pulses induced by radiation are distinguished from all other pulses based on their width. The detector is further stabilised by correcting output of measured light, i.e. amplitude of pulses of output signals. Temperature shift of the detector depends on the average width of overlapping γ-pulses.
EFFECT: highly efficient stabilisation of the detector, setting stabilisation parametres based on real ambient conditions.
