FIELD: engines and pumps.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to car repair and can be used to recondition ICE cylinder block main bearing seats (CBMBS). CBMBS cover joint planes are processing by lapping with the help of lapping plate that overlaps at least two CBMBS cover joint planes in length. Then seat ellipsoid is measured for lapping cylindrical tool to be fitted therein with its surface coated with a layer of lapping paste. Gaskets with total thickness equal to seat ellipsoid are place on CBMBS cover joint seats and pressed by springs. Cylindrical lapping tool is revolved, on pressing it against CBMBS covers, and aforesaid gaskets are removed after CBMBS covers are completely closed.
EFFECT: higher precision of reconditioning by simple procedure and equipment.
