FIELD: technological processes.

SUBSTANCE: invention may be used in welding of thin plates to parts, which mostly consist of homogeneous metals. Rod of electric rivet is made by filling of previously formed hole in one of joined parts with doped material in melted condition. Rod has head in the form of doped material overlap, which is melted with surface of metal above hole in part, and bottom part, which is convex to the side of part without hole and created by its melting with doped material. Rod has side undetachable contact with surface of hole wall, which is made in process of doped metal melt interaction with solid phase of part metal. Joint is carried out in mixture of protective gases Ar and He in ratio (wt %) from 10:90 to 90:10. Temperature mode and speed of electric rivet rod formation are established provided that doped wire melt is produced in volume that provides for contact of liquid phase with solid phase of hole walls for the time sufficient to make a undetachable joint.

EFFECT: invention makes it possible to expand technological resources under conditions of serial production with satisfactory strength of joint.
