FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to method of fabricating axially symmetric welded structures that represent variable-section shells with shaped grooves for assembly with mating complex-shape parts and internal weldable elements to secure said parts. Proposed method comprises producing bores for welding internal elements, assembling the shell with elements in assembly-welding appliance, welding elements through shell bores by plug welding method using consumable electrode in carbon dioxide atmosphere. Note that bores in the shell are made congruent with faces of elements being welded. Elements to be welded are arranged with temporary clearance relative to shell inner surface. Welding is made on water-cooled lining. Refractory coat is applied onto surface of said lining at the welded seam root. Welding is performed rotating the shell about central axial line through preset amount and welding elements along shell generatrix. Invention can be used for welding diverse-section rod elements to both envelopment and sheet structures.
