FIELD: physics; image processing.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to transmission of images. The result is achieved due to integration at the transmitting side of each group of N and W initial analogue synchronous TV signals of gray-level images into multilevel resultant signal S1(t) and S2(t) using analogue-to-digital and digital-to-analogue converters, their conversion to resultant signal S3(t) through quadrature modulation for subsequent transmission over a communication channel or video recording, and at the receiving side, reverse operations are carried out over the signal, specifically synchronisation signals are extracted from the resultant signal S3(t), a signal at reference carrier frequency fc is generated, as well as clock and control pulses. The S3(t) signal is demodulated with formation of two multi-level resultant signals S1(t) and S2(t), after which reverse analogue-to-digital and digital-to-analogue operations are carried out over these signals and N and W initial analogue synchronous TV signals of gray-level images are generated.

EFFECT: provision for combined transmission (N+W) of synchronous analogue TV signals of gray-level images in the frequency band of one analogue signal, converted to digital form.
