FIELD: physics; communications.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to wireless communication systems. More specifically, versions of the invention relate to design and using codebooks based on unitary matrices. The method of making a codebook involves deriving a first codeword P1 in Euclidean coordinates, transforming the first codeword to eigen coordinates, applying Hochwald construction to the first codeword in eigen coordinates to obtain several codewords in eigen coordinates and transforming the several codewords in eigen coordinates to several codewords in Euclidean coordinates to form the codebook.
EFFECT: making codebooks which are closer to optimum codebooks, which enable efficient storage and extraction of codewords.
