FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to thermal treatment of machine building parts. Proposed method allows treatment of both new and operating parts. To reduce wear resistance, increase service life, reduce operating and repair costs, proposed method comprises processing in liquid medium, for example, liquefied nitrogen at -159°C to -269°C. In compliance with this invention, machine parts are preliminary subjected to electromagnetic field effects for at least one hour, electromagnetic field intensity varying from 400 kA/m to 1600 kA/m.
EFFECT: higher wear resistance of machine parts and metal cutting tools.
