SUBSTANCE: invention relates to updating installed computer programs. The method involves steps on which an update specification is received by a target computer system. The specification gives (a) a function which should be updated, where the assigned function is among software executed in the computer system, (b) a function parametre which should be tested, (c) a test to be applied to the given parametre, and (d) modification to be applied to the behaviour of the function, if the given parametre does not pass the given test. When the given function is called in the target computer system, if the given parametre does not pass the test, the given modification is applied to the behaviour of the given function.
EFFECT: updating an installed computer program code.
