FIELD: physics; computer engineering.
SUBSTANCE: disclosed are an optical disc and a method of identifying an optical disc, which make it easy to determine a recording system on an optical disc in a short time using a recording and playback device when one type of optical disc uses a system for recording into grooves and a system for recording onto platforms (for example, BD-R). Specifically, during playback polarity of wobbling information is set to be identical for a system for recording into grooves and a system for recording onto platforms. For this purpose, the initial wobbling deviation of the platform track is made opposite the initial wobbling deviation of the groove track. The system for recording onto the optical disc, which shows identical wobbling polarity regardless of the recording system, can be easily determined by finding tracking polarity which can identify wobbling information by changing tracking polarity.
EFFECT: shorter start-up time of the recording and playback device.
