FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of local hardening impact superficial plastic deforming of walls of metallic vessels, containing sections with dimensional and structure inhomogeneities. It is set value of required relative strengthening, providing uniform strength of vessel walls at such section and defect-free wall, and it is implemented treatment of surface of hardenable wall by vibroimpact tool. Treatment is implemented at repeatedly - periodical mode, alternating it to measurement of surface hardness, thickness of hardenable wall and calculations of current values of criterion, equal to where: h, h0 - current and initial values of surface hardness of hardenable wall in area of treatment, expressed in the same hardness units; δ, δ0 - current and initial values of thickness of hardenable wall in area of treatment, mm. At set of value of required relative strengthening less than calculated current value of mentioned criterion surface treatment is stopped.
EFFECT: control of strengthening is simplified, it is provided ability of operation in field conditions without application of strain-gauge devices.
