FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: according to the invention, wet peat is repeatedly processed in an auger type device and subsequently brought to the initial moisture content WH=(4.6-5.3) kg/kg. After that samples are prepared. The volume of each sample is determined and the samples are dried at temperature not above 343-348°K until equilibrium moisture content is attained. During drying, compression strength of the middle part of the samples is determined after moisture content interval from 0.2 to 0.5 kg/kg. Further, density of dry substance is calculated using formula: where V is sample volume; me is mass of dry substance. Curves of the logarithm of strength Ri as a function of inverse density of dry substance of the peat and the logarithm of strength Ri as a function of moisture content W are plotted, with corresponding angular coefficients of linear sections of the curves of periods of structure formation λci and λi (i=1,2), where λci is angular coefficient of dependency of the corresponding line section (i=1,2), where λi is angular coefficient of dependency In Rj=f(W) of the corresponding line section (i=1,2). From results of curves, the value of average density of bonded liquid is determined; where the value is equal the ratio of coefficients

EFFECT: possibility of determining density of liquid in colloidal and capillary-porous bodies taking into account change of temperature of wet materials for different structure formation conditions during drying.
