FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to liquid-phase catalytic oxidation of paraxylene. Oxidation is carried out in a reactor type bubble column. The reaction zone has a lower level and an upper level separated from each other by maximum distance (L), and maximum diametre (D). The ratio L:D of the reaction zone is at least approximately 3:1. Oxidising agent containing molecular oxygen and a stream of paraxylene are fed into the reaction zone. 30 wt % paraxylene is fed into the reaction zone at a distance of approximately 1.5D from the lower mark on which molecular oxygen is fed. As a result, crude telephthalic acid is obtained.
EFFECT: increased economy and efficiency of liquid-phase oxidation.
