FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of terephthalic acid and reaction system to this end. Oxidation of multiphase reaction medium first part is conducted in reaction first zone selected inside outer reaction vessel. Oxidation of methyl-benzole acid vapors in second part of reaction medium is conducted in second reaction zone selected inside inner reaction vessel. Reaction medium suspension phase part is bled from reaction second zone and directed to further phases for additional treatment. Bubbling reaction column comprises outer reaction vessel and inner reaction vessel arranged, at least, partially inside outer reaction vessel. Inner reaction vessel has one or several holes to directly communicate via fluid first and second reaction zones. Inner reaction vessel has one or several discharge holes for fluid flow from second reaction zone but inhibiting direct communication between said first and second reaction zones. Over 50% of total effective cross-section area defined by direct communication holes falls on top half the inner reaction vessel.
EFFECT: higher efficiency of oxidation, smaller amount of impurities.
