FIELD: means of protection.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions refers to protective armour for protection against bombardment. Such armour includes screen (1) made from case-hardening steel containing Si, Cu and Mo or Mn with base carbon content of less than 0.3 wt % and enriched with carbon for hardness increase in boundary zone or zones (R) located as to depth of screen from at least one external surface (D1) of screen (1) by means of chemical heat treatment in the form of carbonisation or carbonitriding and further heat treatment. Treatment has been performed so that boundary zone (R) is enriched with carbon at least up to 0.5 wt % so that carbides are formed on external surface and minimum hardness 55 HRC is provided on it. At that, screen (1) has zone (B) non-enriched or low-enriched with carbon, and boundary zone (R) passes to the above zone with carbon content decrease. Steel in boundary zone (R) enriched with carbon and in zone (B) non-enriched or low-enriched with carbon with comparatively low hardness contains silica max. 0.4 wt %. There also proposed is method for producing protective armour and use of screen (1) for protection against bombardment.
EFFECT: invention is aimed at increasing surface hardness of screen made from case-hardening steel.
