FIELD: physics; computer engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to automation and computer engineering, particularly to devices for determining the interval for breaking down the argument when designing pulse-frequency functional generators, and can be used in measuring equipment as a device for selecting frequency variation range. Availability of a memory unit for weight coefficients of an artificial neural network allows for using one neural network unit to determine the interval for realising several functional relationships between the output code and intervals for breaking down input frequency.
EFFECT: wider functional capabilities due to realisation of a nonlinear operation for determining the input frequency range using an artificial neural network, trained using a teaching unit, as well as due to realisation of different nonlinear relationships between the output code and intervals for breaking down input frequency.
