SUBSTANCE: invention relates to technology of forming and transmitting images and more specifically to thermal imaging. The result is achieved due to that, a thermal imaging unit which has a lens, a photodetector array, a microcryogenic system, a microcryogenic system control unit, an analogue-to-digital converter, a digital-to-analogue converter, a television, a digital processing unit consisting of a central processor, random-access memory and read-only memory further includes a second analogue-to-digital converter, a photodetector array control unit, a data generation unit, a keyboard control unit, a keyboard, an interruption unit, a control unit, a digital signal generation unit and a television signal generation unit. Limiting temperature sensitivity is increased by increasing capacity of the analogue-to-digital converter (14 bits). Contrast in the region of relative intensity close to zero is increased by reduction of quanta allocated for encoding intensity outside that region and image quality is improved by extending the array and by more accurate calibration of mechanisms for detecting and correcting defective points.

EFFECT: increased limiting temperature sensitivity, contrast and image quality.
