SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a recording medium, and more specifically to a physical structure effectively used in making a recording medium, and to a method and device for recording data onto the recording medium using the physical structure. The recording medium comprises an inner area, a data area and an outer area. The recording medium comprises a test area enclosed in at least one of the inner and outer areas, and a control area for storing position information which indicates the position available for testing in the test area, where the position information includes the initial position of a first data unit available for testing, and the position of a second data unit available for testing, where one or more second data units contain the first data unit.
EFFECT: recording medium can be applied to the method of making a BD, and the process of testing a disc and data recording/playback operations can be efficiently carried out.
