SUBSTANCE: invention provides a device for providing a sound source which enables playing music with minor deterioration of quality of the sound by processing the initial sound source so that music is not defined as noise. According to the invention, a device (20) for providing a sound source for providing music playback services through a portable terminal (105) can be made. The device for providing a sound source has storage apparatus (200) for preliminary storage of several types of processed files (202 and 203) of the sound source created by processing the initial musical sound source so as to reduce deterioration of sound quality in accordance with several types of codec characteristics; and a device (300) for playing back the sound source to determine the type (106) of the codec of the portable terminal (105) from the starting signal which indicates request for playing back when the sound source playback device receives the starting signal, playing back one processed sound source file, corresponding to a defined codec type, selectively from several types of processed sound source files (202 and 203), and providing one processed sound source file to the portable terminal (105) so as to play music using the portable terminal.
EFFECT: reduced deterioration of sound quality in accordance with code characteristics in order to music from a portable terminal.
