SUBSTANCE: technical result is achieved through selection of a ringing control signal by a subscriber in a mobile communication network which has a system for providing the ring-back tone (RBT) service. The method comprises the following stages: (a) the system for providing the RBT service determines whether the called party is subscribed to the RBT service; (b) after confirmation, the calling party assigns through the system for providing the RBT service a ringing control signal for playing when establishing connection with the called party; (c) the system for providing the RBT service determines whether a ringing control signal was previously assigned the called party and after confirmation, it prohibits user of the previously assigned signal; and (d) if it has been established on stage (a) that the called party is not subscribed to the RBT service, the system for providing the RBT service subscribes the called party to the said service.
EFFECT: providing the calling party with additional information.
