FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: current (voltage) at the output of the divider is measured for calibrated variation of the resistance of the low-voltage arm. The divider includes apparatus for measuring instantaneous values of potential drop at the output of the low-voltage arm, and at least one element with unidirectional conduction. Current (voltage) is measured during variation of the resistance of the low-voltage arm at different half-periods of alternating current in the circuit, where during one half-period, alternating current (voltage) at the output of the low-voltage arm having one stance is measured, and during the other half-period, alternating current (voltage) at the output of the low-voltage arm having another resistance is measured, from which the measured high voltage is determined.

EFFECT: measurement of high alternating voltage in real time using a resistance divider, independent of resistance of the high-voltage arm, surface conductivity, leakage current and atmospheric effects.
