FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: in the method, an analysed sample is treated with potassium rhodanate and a solution of N-ethyl-N(2-hydroxyethyl)-1,4-phenylenediammonium sulphate of a monohydrate. Aceton is added to the reaction product, kept for 10 minutes and diluted with water and optical density of the coloured solution is measured at wavelength 513 nm.
EFFECT: increased sensitivity of detecting copper ions.
