SUBSTANCE: in liver diseases of various aetiologies, blood serum is analysed for the ratio of bile acids. Alcoholic liver disease is identified by the ratio of taurocholic to taurodeoxycholic acids being less than 1, the ratio of glycolic to glycodeoxycholic acid being less than 1 and the ratio of cholic to deoxycholic acid less than 5. Primary biliary cirrhosis is diagnosed by the ratio of taurocholic to taurodeoxycholic acid within 1-3. Viral alcoholic liver disease is determined by the ratio of glycolic to glycodeoxycholic acids within 1-3 and the ratio of cholic to dezoksiholevoj acids within 5-7. Viral liver disease is identified by the ratio of glycolic to glycodeoxycholic acids exceeding 3. Primary sclerosing cholangitis is shown by the ratio of taurocholic to taurodeoxycholic acids exceeding 3 and the ratio of cholic to deoxycholic acids exceeding 7.

EFFECT: application of the method allows improving accuracy of differential diagnostics of liver diseases of various aetiologies accompanied by intrahepatic cholestasis.
