SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a device (1) with a tachograph (2), with a mobile external device (3) for storing data which has second memory (41) with an external second interface (10) on the external device (3) for storing data to facilitate data transmission (50). The invention also relates to a method of transmitting data in the said device. To ensure security, traditional devices provide complete isolation of the device (3) for storing data, which is made in form of a data card, during data transmission. The invention provides a tachograph (2), which has a first encryption unit (32) related to the interface (9) of the tachograph (2), and the memory device (3) has a second encryption unit (42), such that data (50) can be transmitted in encrypted form.

EFFECT: reduced expenses without deterioration of security.
