SUBSTANCE: set of invention relates to device and method intended for holding pipe, in its welding, in crosswise direction to produce bundle of pipes. Proposed device holds pipe section, extending from pipe package, in welding to produce upper transverse welding seam. Said section is located between upper and lower transverse welded seam. Device allow adjusting cross section of first part of said section by providing for direct contact with it to have first length in first direction perpendicular to pipe lengthwise direction. Device allow adjusting cross section of first part of said section by providing for direct contact with it to have first length in first direction perpendicular to pipe lengthwise direction. Said first section is located between lower transverse welded seam and second part of the section, second section being located between upper transverse welded seam and section first part. Pipe first length exceeds that of second pipe.
EFFECT: stabilised package form in transverse direction to reduce strain in package material in welding zone.
