FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to neurology, neurosurgery. It involves electrical stimulation with using an implanted electrical stimulator to stimulate the nerves of a carotid sinus reflexogenic zone. To specify the current parametres, the diagnostic electrical stimulation sessions are performed wherein electroencephalogram (EEG) before and after session is recorded and analysed. The diagnostic sessions are performed at electric current frequencies: 1-3 Hz, 4-7 Hz, 8-13 Hz, 14-30 Hz, 31-150 Hz, at pulse amplitude 5 to 15 mA and pulse duration 0.1 to 0.5 ms; the session length at each frequency is within 30 seconds to 3 minutes; the sessions are randomly sequenced. When analysing the EEG for the therapeutic sessions, there are specified frequency range to decrease a number of epileptogenic waves at least by 1.5 times, and when performing the therapeutic sessions, the current pulse amplitude is reduced at least in 3 times. The repeated specification of the optimal current parametres for electrical stimulation is performed every 1-6 months.
EFFECT: method extends the range of aids for treating epilepsy.
