FIELD: information technologies.
SUBSTANCE: from the first host-unit (Initiator) to the second host unit (Respondent) message of authentication (I2') is sent (S2), which contains identifier (HIT) of the first host unit (Initiator) and cryptographic element (PF). Message (I2') of authentication is received (S3) in the second host unit (Respondent). After reception identifier and information related to general condition are used (S4) to authenticate cryptographic element (PF). If cryptographic element and remaining part of authentication message are authenticated, then from the second host unit (Respondent) to the first host unit (Initiator) confirmation message (R21) is sent to demonstrate successful authentication. These two messages (I2' and R2') are equivalent to messages I2 and R2 of standard HIP basic exchange protocol, and there is no necessity in messages I1 and R1 from protocol of basic exchange of standard HIP.
EFFECT: reduced traffic in process of unit identification.
