FIELD: physics, computer engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a device designed for relaying packets between a first host node and a second host node. The device includes memory designed to record, for said first host node, the address of the first host node, the relayed address of the first host node, the address of the second host node and a high level outgoing identifier and/or a high level incoming identifier. The device further includes one or both of the following: an outgoing packet inspector designed to inspect packets received from the first host node and addressed to the address of the device to determine if said packets contain a recorded high level outgoing identifier and if so, transmit the packets to the address of the second host node, and an incoming packet inspector designed to inspect packets received from the second host node and addressed to the relayed address in order to determine if said packets contain a recorded high level incoming identifier and if so, transmit the packets to the address of the first host node.
EFFECT: enabling forwarding of packets between a client and a forwarding server without using encapsulation, thereby easing problems of existing solutions.
