SUBSTANCE: invention relates to packing device and method of packing viscous products, namely sealants, into packing sleeves. Proposed device comprises shut-off valve and filling tube arranged along product flow, downstream of shut-off valve. Packing device comprises device to fit and close clips arranged along product flow downstream of filling tube and well as stock of packing sleeves arranged, at least partially, on filling tube. Packing device comprises at least one continuous-operation transducer to direct or indirect measurement of packing sleeve length. Transducer output signal can control at least closing of shut-off valve said forces sealant towards filling tube. Proposed method comprises forcing sealant towards shut-off valve, filling packing sleeve via filling tube and pulling additional packing sleeve from its stock. Packing sleeve length is recorded directly or indirectly by at least one continuous-operation transducer. Transducer output signal can control at least closing of shut-off valve said forces sealant towards filling tube.
EFFECT: simplified process of packing sleeve length measurement.
