FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of glass decorative-facing tiles. The method of making glass decorative-facing tiles involves putting a layer of heat resistant kaolin powder at the furnace bottom, putting tiles made from transparent glass on the said layer and depositing a layer of mineral mixture onto the tiles. The tiles are then thermally treated at temperature of 800-1000°C for 5-30 minutes. The mineral mixture used is a mixture of the following composition, in wt %: ground up scrap transparent glass 76.0-78.9; zinc oxide 10.0-15.0; chalk 5.0-10.0; sodium silicofluoride 1.0-3.0; pigment 0.1-1.0. The mixture is deposited on the surface of the tiles before thermal treatment.
EFFECT: design of a simple method which enables to obtain glass decorative-facing tiles which imitate marble.
