FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: stand consists of frame of stand, of split half-rings of upper and lower foundations of stand and of mechanisms of control over assembly of fairing modules. The fairing assembly stand is equipped with a mechanism of traverse motion, mechanism of turn and hoisting screw mechanism. The assembly procedure consists in stage-by stage transfer, installation and equipping the item with folds of the fairing on the stand carriage. Prior to item transfer the lower foundation with the lower fold of the fairing are secured on the stand, thus forming the lower module. The item is positioned on external auxiliary supports over the lower module whereupon the upper fold of the fairing is attached to the upper foundation forming the upper module. The said module is lowered on the item successively centring the upper module relative to the item. By means of carriages the lower module is brought to contact with the upper module. While successively centring the lower module relative to the item, the upper and lower folds of the fairing are interconnected, thus forming the fairing. The lower and upper foundations are removed.
EFFECT: increased rigidity of joint of fore body and tail piece of fairing, decreased time for joining.
