SUBSTANCE: invention relates to communication systems which allow for setting up communication channels in an alternative sector for determining alternative frequencies and technologies which facilitate further communication when establishing mobile wireless communication. Disclosed systems and methods for processing wireless communication signal components for a mobile broadband wireless access service involve processes for measuring the level of a signal at an alternative frequency by detuning from the existing frequency which is related to the existing communication channel. Such processes enable to determine whether the alternative frequency supports the next communication channel in the mobile broadband wireless communication application. After determination, the process can automatically select the next communication channel, partly based on the measured signal level.
EFFECT: faster paging determination.
